The Metal Gear series has been around since the late 80’s and has the honor of being one of the few game franchises that keeps getting better with each installment ( subject to opinion of course). While I wont be going into detail on the entire franchise here, I will post a snapshot chronology for readers who want to see the legacy of the game that we are taking about.< Click to Enlarge>
Metal Gear Online started its life when Metal Gear Solid 4 arrived for the PS3 back in 2008.It was a bold move for the franchise that ultimately paid off as the legion of Metal Gear fans around the world embraced this new angle on playing their franchise. Rather than following popular trends at the time MGSO stayed true to its Tactical Espionage roots and gave players a multi-player arena to call their own.
MSGO ( Metal Gear Solid Online) delivered a modern/near future shooting experience complete with total customization and a game play style that emulated its single players .
Positioned as a ” Thinking Man’s” shooter experience MGO quickly gathered a community and a faithful following. Now with the soon to be released Metal Gear Solid 5 we will be getting another iteration of MGO.
While very little has been shown of the actual game play we have been treated to a trailer of sorts that has one of the developers walking us through the various features they want us to see .
Being a big fan of Ghost Recon and that style of game play in a multi player environment, I am very eager to see the final release of MGO when it launches with Metal Gear Solid 5 in September.
