I fell in love with comic books at a young age ( my guess is I started reading comics when I was around 8 years old ). They captured my imagination and opened a portal to worlds filled with larger than life heroes and villains. The Characters in the pages of my collection where just as good and sometimes even better than the ones I saw on the big screen. I would have to say that comics are what shaped my interests and developed my imagination that I carry with me today as an adult.
Over the years I found it hard to maintain my commitment to reading them let alone collecting them and I am sad to say that my once mighty collection somehow dwindled away and is now only a shadow of its former self ( I easily had some $$$$ titles in it). For some reason I just found other forms of entertainment easier to consume as an adult and I am sure the internet played a hand in it. Video Games probally filled the gap to be honest. The last time I remember trying buying more than a single comic book in a series was about 5 years ago when Gi Joe got a second lease on life in comic book stores.
Trust me. I want to get back to reading a regular series and would love to curl up on the couch and read some amazing stories and revisit my youth but its really hard these days to jump into an ongoing superhero book that is already in its 200+ issue.
Well my friends have I got news for you!
Marvel is “Rebooting” its entire comic line. I use the word loosely because its not a full reboot per se ( They saw what that did for DC comics and there new 52 line). The information we have so far points to a re envisioning versus an entirely ” fresh start” approach so don’t expect the entire Marvel timeline to undergo a retcon.
The comics wont start shipping until the fall but have a look below for the official announcement from the House of Ideas below.
